Rappresentano una nuova classe di artefatti: organismi viventi e programmabili\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Per realizzare i biorobot, sono state prelevate delle cellule dalla pelle di larve di rana Xenopus laevis; le stesse sono poi state incubate fino a ottenere piccoli organismi pluricellulari ricoperti di ciglia e capaci di muoversi. Successivamente, questi organismi sono stati posti su una piastra insieme ad altre singole cellule di Xenopus. Grazie alle loro ciglia, i piccoli robot hanno iniziato a muoversi compattando le cellule che incontravano via via lungo il percorso. In appena cinque giorni, queste cellule hanno dato vita ad altri organismi dotati di movimento. Il particolare comportamento dimostra, come sottolineano gli scienziati, quanto radicalmente le entit\u00e0 biologiche possano adattarsi e cambiare in risposta al loro ambiente.<\/p>\n<h3>Medicina rigenerativa<\/h3>\n<p>Secondo i ricercatori, gli Xenobot potrebbero aprire la strada alla medicina rigenerativa: <em>\u201cse sapessimo come indurre i gruppi di cellule a fare ci\u00f2 che vogliamo, in definitiva quella sarebbe la medicina rigenerativa: la soluzione a lesioni traumatiche, difetti alla nascita, cancro e invecchiamento. Tutti questi diversi problemi resistono perch\u00e9 non sappiamo come prevedere e controllare quali gruppi di cellule andranno a costruire cosa.
